For those who are on a diet, it is very easy to believe all diet tricks and tips advised to you. It is of course okay to follow various diet and health advices, but you also need to be cautious. The problem is that some of these are actually myths that will not help you in your quest to become fitter and healthier.
1. MYTH: Do not eat anything after 8 PM. You will gain more weight if you love to eat late at night. All the calories you eat after 8 will turn into fat.
FACT: While there are other benefits of avoiding late night meals, it does not necessarily mean that everything you eat after 8 PM will turn into fat. The calories that you get from the food that you eat will be processed the same way like any time of the day. If you really love eating after 8 PM, then just try to eat light snacks such as fruits or cereals to satisfy your hunger.
2. MYTH: You can eat all you want as long as you are eating healthy foods. Calories are not important.
FACT: If you are aiming to lose some weight, then the amount that you eat is important. As the saying goes, anything in excess is not good. Aside from eating healthy, the key here is to eat in moderation.
3. MYTH: Carbohydrates can make you fat. As much as possible, avoid eating pasta, breads and the likes.
FACT: One thing to remember is that carbohydrates alone will not make you fat. What makes a person gain weight is the extra calories that she/he consumes. If you regularly eat more than the required amount of food that your body needs, then the extra calories will be stored as fat.
4. MYTH: You can always overindulge on food as long as you exercise regularly.
FACT: Diet plays a very huge part in any weight loss plan. While it is important to exercise, it does not necessarily follow that you can overindulge anytime that you want. If your goal is to lose weight, you should still be careful on the calories that you get from your food.
5. MYTH: Crash-dieting is the best way to lose weight.
FACT: If you want to lose weight, the best thing for you to do is to modify your eating habits and lifestyle in general. Be conscious of what you eat and make sure that you consume food in moderation. In addition to this, you should also become more active and have regular exercise to speed up your metabolism.
